Vizient Southern States members gain valuable insights from successful ED Behavioral Health Collaborative meeting
Held last month, Vizient Southern States' ED Behavioral Health Collaborative kick-off meeting was well attended with 36 attendees who represented 11 member organizations.
Mike Hodges, Manager of Public Safety at Piedmont Athens Regional, and Lisa Davis, Nurse Manager at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health, both shared their experiences at their respective hospitals. Mr. Hodges presented on how to identify workplace violence and shared tools for violence prevention. Ms. Davis shared the components of a psychiatric nursing consultation team that has improved patient outcomes, maintained safety and reduced costs at VCU.
Next, participants received a tour of Gwinnett Medical Center’s brand new ED Behavioral Health holding unit and gained new ideas on how to keep behavioral health patients safe.
Lastly, members had the opportunity to network at a break-out session where they learned about current interventions each organization has implemented to better manage their behavioral health populations.
By having this opportunity to meet and learn from nationally recognized speakers (both Mr. Hodges and Ms. Davis presented at Vizient’s Clinical Connections Summit last September), as well as each other, members can take what they learned and leverage that knowledge at their facilities.
