Charles A. Peck, MD, FACP

Charles A. Peck, MD, FACP, is the president and chief executive officer of Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens, Georgia. His background is as an internist and rheumatologist with more than 35 years of health care experience.

 

Dr. Peck’s areas of expertise include health strategy and policy; performance improvement; clinical and operational excellence; change enablement; clinical care; leadership training; quality and utilization management; and risk management for hospitals, health systems and physician organizations.

 

Prior to joining Piedmont Athens Regional, Dr. Peck served as partner at a global health care consulting firm responsible for the clinical operations practice. He has also served as chief executive officer of a 150 physician group multi-specialty practice; president of the southeast and northeast regions of a large national health insurance carrier; chief medical officer of a start-up retail health clinic operator; chief medical officer and chief operations officer of a national disease management company; and CEO of an ambulatory surgery center and physician services company.

 

He currently serves on the executive committee of Vizient Southern States.

 

Dr. Peck received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University and his doctor of medicine degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He has also studied at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
